How do you hunt Easter eggs?

And what do you get in the end?

We have a new favorite for the parents but have learned that we MUST switch it up a little in order for the older kids to enjoy it. We simply did the same thing we did last year, click here to read all about it.

In fact the only difference was we did it on a smaller scale with more pieces. This created a longer puzzle experience. However the older kids, the ones that would be putting the puzzle together, got board with it as they already knew what was coming.

As far as the hunt was concerned we scheduled it earlier this year as we knew rain was coming in. Unfortunately the rain came sooner than we had expected it and therefore it was raining when the eggs were hidden and although it has stopped for the hunt it was wet and chilly. We figured that we better get in done in the morning as the weather did not call for a let up until well after 7:00 PM.

As you can see, Mr. Weatherman was wrong again.

It warmed up and the sun not only peeked through but displayed itself prominently in the sky around 2:00. The above photo was taken at 4:45'ish. No matter the younger kids had a great time looking for the eggs and the older kids really enjoyed the treat afterwords. (Pictures of that later as we took none and have to get them from someone that did.)

We did learn a few things however from this experience:

First, although the idea is stellar the execution must be different even if only slightly. For example we could have a different puzzle for each kid, or just have 10 different puzzles that we rotate through, or even just simply change the prize at the end.

Second, make sure the older kids understand Easter is for kids, little kids.

Third, NEVER trust the weatherman. Anyone that can keep a job and only be correct/accurate/reliable 20% - 30% of the time should never be in charge of timing or anything else for that matter. Sorry Mr. Poteet I love you on The Smiley Morning Show but weathermen (or women) just cannot be counted on.
