Roo Celebrates Another Birthday!

I have debated whether I would post not or wait until tomorrow, however as has happened every year since Roo's birth circumstances have been such that he gets two parties. This year is no different, so with everything that occurred yesterday I figure it needs a proper post. After all Roo has stated, more than once, that this was his best day ever and this was his best birthday ever! Hearing that sure does make a parent feel good especially after hearing "this is the worstest day" so many times.

As you can see from the above paragraph I was planning on posting this right after Roo's B-Day. However like so many things in like something got in the way of the post, probably sleep, and here I am a week later. So instead of a breaking news kinda post this will be a see what happened kinda post.

Grandma and Grandpa Madsen were able to be here for the entire week leading up to Roo's birthday and the kids really enjoyed them being here. For the first time Roo wanted to have a party with more than just family so he invited a few friends from church and from school. He really wanted a Scooby Doo party and had some pretty cool games that he wanted to play. Being the realist we are we helped him understand that the games were more like hollywood productions and that there would not be enough time nor money available to begin any of his games. We did assure him that we would play a cool game and end with a big surprise monster.

So as is always the case we began working on the cake and the scavenger hunt around 10:00 PM Friday night. Mom came up with the locations to hide the clues, Grandma Madsen came up with the clues, Mom made the cake and decorated most of it, Grandpa and I held down the NCAA tournament and made sure the games went off without a hitch. All in all I think everyone was pretty successful. The clues turned out great, the cake was awesome as always and half of the teams that played on Friday night won, Dad and I had done out part to perfection!

After heading to bed around 1:00 AM we were able to get almost enough rest before the festivities were to begin on Saturday. When the time arrived, and all the guests, we headed outside to the backyard to begin the hunt. The first clue was read and the kids were off.

The mystery hunt entailed some pretty weird hiding places, some crazy activities that had to be completed and finally the need to secure some weapons. Then they were held in place for some time before the final clue was unleashed and they headed for the MONSTER! As they came charging outside to where it all began hey stopped dead in their tracks as they faced a fierce and terrible DRAGON!

After beating the dragon and causing its innards to fall to the ground there was another mad dash for the dinning room where cake and frappe were waiting. Roo's favorite part was probably opening all his presents and playing with them with all his friends.

The Cake was awesome and the party was perfect, Roo kept saying so the rest of that afternoon and into the night. he just did not want the day to end. Thank you to all who made this birthday, in Roo's own words, "the bestest day ever"!

As is always the case with Roo's B-day it does not end there!

That is right, Grandma and Grandpa Bland were not able to attend the Saturday afternoon party and Roo's actual B-day was not until Monday so we would have to do B-day breakfast and dinner on Monday. With that there must be another cake, kinda, and more frappe (never a bad thing).

So Roo enjoyed his breakfast of Orange rolls, bacon, eggs and toast and his dinner of rice, milk and cinnamon and sugan (the adults ate some wonderful Mom will have to fill in this blank)! Then it was time for more presents and the good stuff.

Mom made some brownie things that everyone loves and I made the frappe, then Roo opened up a ton more presents and cards. Again he exclaimed this was the "bestest day ever"!
